This is a beast of an amp, it has the option to go between 12ax7 and EF86 pre-amp tubes which drives the amp harder and also the K master volume which I will put the info describing it below. It is in great shape with black Ostrich skin tolex. This is not the newer PCP board amps, it is the all hand wired point to point turret board construction legacy series. Comes with foot switch for fat boost and pre-amp tube selection as mentioned above. If you are not familiar Badcat amps the company was started by Mark Sampson who founded “Matchless Amplifiers”, one of the 1st and best boutique high end guitar amplifier companies. The Cub III 40 preserves the purity of the original Cub circuit while offering increased flexibility. The EL34 power section adds huge headroom, percussive lows and glassy highs to this classic circuit. This improved design offers the ability to select between a 12AX7 or EF86 pre-amp tube using the mini toggle on the faceplate or the included footswitch. This new feature offers far more gain and versatility than previous Cub models. We also added a selectable tone stack boost in both modes to give this pure single channel amp four unique gain stages. It can achieve everything from the traditional Cub 12AX7 chime to complex EF86 gain tones that were unachievable on earlier versions of the Cub. A two button footswitch to select the EF86 or 12AX7 pre-amp tube and engage the boost is included. K Masterยฎ Patent Pending The K Masterยฎ circuit is a completely original approach to power amp management which simultaneously controls current, voltage, gain, harmonic clipping and signal amplitude at intricate variables at the turn of one knob. This groundbreaking analog circuitry can achieve any amount of gain at any desirable volume while keeping tone and touch response 100% intact. The K Master also allows the power tube section to achieve something never before possible. When turned beyond 2 o’clock on the dial it begins to push the power section into harmonic saturation independent of the where the preamp gain is set. Combine this function with the pre-amp set sparkling clean to achieve big clean tones that ooze with rich power tube harmonics.
